Is corruption an issue? Is the sky blue? Are the Flint Hills hilly? Corruption is an issue in politics. Politics should not be a game only played by the rich and powerful. In fact, it shouldn’t be a game at all. But the truth is, right now, too many ultra-wealthy people and corporations are pulling the strings on members of Congress.
While you are working hard all day, earning money to provide for your loved ones, the ultra-wealthy and corporations are holding meetings and phone calls with politicians to get special favors. Working class Kansans are having their needs ignored simply because their time is being spent on the problems directly in front of their faces. That isn’t representation, it’s corruption. And it has to stop.
Every tax season, while we working class Kansans stress ourselves out doing our taxes, the CEOs and other wealthy, big corporation monsters are relying on their teams of lawyers to help them find loopholes. These loopholes allow them to stash money overseas and employ other strategies that lead to them avoiding taxes.
We all know corruption is an issue. And we all hate it. But it doesn’t have to be the norm. I’m ready to work with other members of the Kansas House who are fired up about regulating these monsters.
