The government should not be forcing anyone into parenthood. Kansans made that belief clear in August of 2022. As a representative, the job is to represent the positions and values of the people. So when Kansans shouted “no” to the idea of restricting women's reproductive rights loud enough for the entire nation to hear, I heard. Hear me when I say that I will fight like hell to defend that position against people who apparently can’t listen.

I am not someone who is capable of giving birth, myself. But who I am and how I experience healthcare personally doesn’t prevent me from learning how others do. I constantly listen to and learn from those who are, about reproductive health practices. When access to abortion is obstructed, limited, or eliminated, people’s health is jeopardized. Some people have even lost their life. 

This country is a beautiful place for many different reasons. The freedoms we enjoy in this country are not enjoyed by everyone around the globe. That freedom includes the right to make your own decisions about parenthood and your reproductive health. If you want to read a certain book on your free time, do so; if you have some kind of opposition to reading that book, then don’t. If you need access to an abortion, that access should exist; if you have some kind of opposition to having an abortion, don’t have one.  Our diverse range of beliefs can exist if we allow them to, safely.
